The Giant Without a Heart and Leonardo’s Great Tower. A Story for the Italian Working Class
The Gran Teatro Popular Niño Fernandito Túpac Amaru, directed by Daniela Ortiz and curated by Sara Alberani, in collaboration with LOCALES, presents a puppet play that seeks to reclaim the lost heart of the Italian working class, now captured by the far right.
The work examines the historical role of fascism as a mechanism for capturing the imaginaries and emotions of the working class, as well as the current reactivation of these strategies of ideological co-optation by political and economic elites.
In a context marked by a deep collective psychological crisis, widespread drug use, and depression, the piece affirms the urgency of recovering the heart of the white proletariat and precariat, a red heart that belongs below and to the left, to the people and to the land, and thus restoring revolutionary feeling.
