Leone Contini
TALK

Leone Contini, The scattered colonial body, materiale rimosso, MuCiv -Museo delle Civiltà, Roma, 2016-17

On September 22, in the talk at NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti of Rome, Leone Contini introduces the main thematic nuclei of his artistic practice, such as the fundamental need for relation and exchange between different cultures, and the relationship with the land and with food intended as primary forms of identity.

In particular, Contini presents his research on the dismembered collection of the former African Museum in Rome, which today is partly kept in the storage of the Museo delle Civiltà at EUR. The artist’s investigation discusses and questions the forms of representation and the devices through which the Italian colonial narrative was constructed.
